Nambitha Ben-Mazwi is no stranger to the fashion pages and red carpets and so when I heard she was going to New York Fashion week, I first died a little inside from jealousy and then I jumped at the opportunity to track her down and ask a few questions.
Roxy: Which shows did you attend? And can you point out one or two of your favourite looks?
Nambitha: I always attend a Timo Weiland show and it was interesting to see his growth since the fall fashion week 2013. I’ve always loved his use of colour especially because New Yorker’s typically shy away from colour and love black. His SS17 look played around with pattern and stripes but in a subtle well balanced way.

Roxy:What did you wear and why did you go for that look?
Nambitha: I wore a romantic sheer dress that offered a lot of movement and flow with a discreet figure hugging silhouette. I chose this look for the main reason that the movement the dress offers and the sheer detail is definitely a summer trend for 2017. My other looks were made up of street style finishes with my own edgy touch and prints.
Roxy: What was your favourite trend that you picked up on the runway this year?
Nambitha: My favourites had to be print, fringe and garments that moved and brought them to life! I also loved soft textures like satin, lace and sheer materials. As well as these being a great trend I loved how they they were bringing back femininity and romance.

Roxy: Who was your fave celebrity attendee and their outfits from Insta?
Nambitha: I saw Gigi Hadid daily on almost every corner. Her outfits were truly impeccable and effortless each time.

Roxy: Did you have any favourite shows or designers/labels?
Nambitha: Yes, I often prefer the fashion previews and showcases of up and coming fashion labels and brands and those are usually the best fashion week parties to attend. I’m not a sneaker fan, but a friends new label and initiative LSOWP was mind blowing. The creativity with the sneaker range was mind blowing.
Roxy: What else did you get up to whilst in New York?
Nambitha: I visited old friends and colleagues in entertainment that I worked and lived with in 2013. I also managed to squeeze in production meetings and research and I em ending my trio with a spin to Los Angeles.
A huge thanks to Nambitha for taking the time to answer my questions. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love New York… And I think the next time I visit the Big Apple I may just coincidentally coincide it with fashion week!
