I wear 36 different outfits in the 12 episodes of my show, How Do I Look? SA. That’s A LOT! And it also challenges us in the makeup department to create 36 different makeup and hair looks. So far, 6 episodes have aired on E! Entertainment, bringing you 6 amazing transformations. I decided to feature some of my favourite makeup looks that myself and my incredible Makeup Artists, Morag Steyn, put together. I’m also adding in some hints and tips and which of my best L’Oreal Paris products we used to create these looks. Enjoy!
Tip 1: One Plus One = FUN
To compliment this incredible Ted Baker coat Morag decided to mix two different L’Oreal lip colours to create the perfect shade. Don’t be afraid to mix it up. Combining different hues and textures can create a brand new look – and help your makeup go that much further!
For this “neon” pink effect we used two products: the L’Oreal Paris Infallible Matte Lip Pain in 204 “Red Actually” and the L’Oreal Paris Infallible 2-Step Lipstick in 121 “Flawless Fuscia“. First we layered the red and then added the fuscia for that POP we were looking for. Voila! 3 lipsticks for the price of 2.
Tip 2: Blue is a Vibe
Te veel eyeshadow? No ways! No such thing! Just balance it out with a nude lip and you’re good to go. For this look we decided a blue hue would be a great 80s throwback considering I was wearing a monotone outfit from head to toe.
Colour in makeup is a great way to have fun with a look – consider your outfit and what you’re wearing when doing your makeup. A pop of colour is a fantastic way to liven up any look. Don’t be afraid of colour either… it can bring out your eyes or accentuate your lips. Use it to highlight your best features!

We achieved the above look with the L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Les Ombres Palette in”E8 Eternal Blue“. It’s a fab little palette which can also be used to create a fantastic blue smokey eye. The pigment is rich and texture is smooth as velvet. It’s a goodie!
Tip 3: Contouring isn’t dead… it’s just calmed down
I’m finding that of late, a more natural contour is in “fashion”. But then again, no one should be a slave to trend. Whether you like it heavy or light, bold or subdued, I do find that contouring can finish off a makeup look and help create great lines. In this look we used theInfallible Longwear Shaping Stick in “220 Toffee Caramel“.
I’ve been using this L’Oreal Infallible Foundation stick since I discovered it on the set of How Do I Look? and it’s a great little discovery! I used it in my 6 Step Skin video that you can watch and read up on here.
Tip 4: Only send nudes in the form of makeup
Sometimes you want to go neutral! Nude from lips to lids and back again. Fresh skin and flawless foundation plus a nude eye and lip can really create a bold statement in an understated way. If that makes sense 😉
Another fab tip is that lip liner can also be used as a lipstick. If you’re wanting a super matte look a liner can be used to cover your whole mouth and not just for lining. We used L’Oreal’s Colour Riche Lip Liner Couture in “Beige A Nu”, number 630. In the pic above I’ve also added a fab gloss if a matte look isn’t your thing: the L’Oreal Infallible Mega Gloss. They come in an array of colours and you can shop them here.
Tip 5: Make Me Blush
One of my reveal looks on How Do I Look? SA included this gorgeous nectarine toned gown from local designers, ERRE. Because the colour is so bold we went for a softer look and mirrored the tone of the dress on my cheeks with L’Oreal’s True Match Blush in “163 Nectarine“.

Morag used blush on the apples of my cheeks and not the actual cheek bone. The best way to get the ‘apples’ is to smile and then gently brush it over the part of the cheek that plumps up from smiling. An easy trick to get it right!
