How Do I Look South Africa

Just a quick note from the heart about my big news of the day…

If you ask me what I’m most proud of in my career it would be the nature of its longevity. I have been consistently working since the age of 10. And of this, I am incredibly proud.

Hearing “no” more often than “yes” can be tough (to say the least) and the life lessons I learnt as a pre-teen are only experienced by most young adults when they enter the job market for the very first time. I was hosting live shows at 12. Had been on TV for a decade by 20. And now at 30, I’m joining the dream team of the entertainment world as the host of E!’s How Do I Look? South Africa.

Don’t get me wrong, there have been times where a bad spell came my way, work was nowhere and I seriously questioned all the decisions I had made up until that point. It hasn’t been all sunshine and roses.

I distinctly remember phoning my mom one day and asking her for petrol money as I couldn’t pay for it myself. I felt like a failure. My freelance career had not taken off the way I had hoped. I couldn’t shake the “kids presenter” image I had garnered in the early 00’s. And I felt as if all the time, effort, and energy I’d spent on the past 15 or so years had been a complete waste. What’s that about 10 000 hours to become an expert?

But, and most success stories in the media industry will have this similar theme, persistence is key. Perseverance is vital. And consistency in all of the above is king.

So it’s with great excitement and pride that I get to add my name to the long list of incredible hosts who have represented the E! Entertainment family across the globe! What an honour!

This is a channel I grew up watching. A channel that is the epitome of popular culture and entertainment television. A dream for anyone who loves fashion, celebrity and glamour. And I couldn’t think of a more perfect show to host than How Do I Look? South Africa. I worship Jeannie Mai for crying in a fashionable, well-dressed bucket!

The point of this post is just to say to all those who are currently walking a journey they may feel they have no control over or feel they don’t understand… hold on. The light will come and life will make sense. Keep on keeping on as my High School principal used to say!

I can’t wait to spend Friday nights with you on DSTV Channel 124! Join myself and the incredibly talented Kat Sinivasan, as our style expert, from the 17th of November 2017. In case you’ve been under a rock *tisk tisk* How Do I Look? features style-challenged participants from all walks of life as they embark on a total makeover journey with the help of their friends and a professional
