I’ve wanted to do a makeup tutorial for the LONGEST time so when Smashbox approached me about collaborating with them for the launch of their new Smashbox Cover Shot Palette range I thought, “this is it!” The new range is faced by actress and Snapchat queen, Shay Mitchell and when I say faced I mean she served face on a whole other LEVEL!
Shay’s campaign is flawless and showcases exactly what you’re in for with each of the specifically curated palettes and colour mixes.
The pigments are vibrant, the colours are modern and on-trend and the fierce foil finishes you find when you use these shades are to perfection.
Each palette comes with a mix of 6 shadows and 2 double-sized base shades. My personal faves are Metallic for their vibrancy, Golden Hour for some everyday pizazz and Smoky for its modern edge! Other palettes are Matte, Ablaze, Softlight and Bold. Which is your fave?

So here’s how I used Golden Hour to create 3 looks from 1 palette! The first is a barely-there nude look perfect for weekend brunch with the girls. The second is a great look for work and any wardrobe colouring versatility is key when it comes to everyday wear. And the third is an easy-to-execute aesthetic for a night out on the town. The more pigment you use, the more vibrant and dramatic the look! The choice is yours.
In case you need a little more inspiration from Slay Mitchell (as I like to call Shay) here is the INCREDIBLE video created for her campaign with Smashbox:
The RSP for the new Smashbox Cover Shot palettes are R650 and can be found at your favourite beauty provider.
P.S. I can highly recommend the Smashbox X-Rated mascara you see me using in the tutorial! The product creates a jet black, thick lash finish which doesn’t drop. It’s ace!
