Autumn Accessories: Smashbox Always On Metallic Mattes

Autumn is here! As much as this realisation might get us down, what better way to lift our spirits than with fashion and makeup. We are all familiar with the quintessential autumn palette of maroons, purples and emeralds and these hues are seamlessly matched with the perfectly timed launch of the Smashbox Always On Metallic Matte lipsticks.

When thinking of the perfect pair many things come to mind, and no not that “perfect pair” but rather egg and bacon, cup and saucer, Barack and Michelle, and now the perfect lip with the perfect accessory. I’ve decided to pair three of the Smashbox Always On Metallic Matte lipsticks with the perfect autumn accessory and prove to you that lipstick is more than just makeup: it’s FASHION!

1. Smashbox Always On Metallic Matte in “Vino Noir”

This burgundy and red pearl shade translates slightly brighter on my skin tone than the colour that you see at first glance. This suits me just perfectly as it still has that rich autumn tone to it. It’s a great shade that compliments a range of skin tones!

I decided to pair this shade with a hat that I had in my wardrobe. The hat and the lip colour would be perfectly paired with a monochromatic look as they are both quite bright and so will lift any outfit.

An alternative accessory you could pair with this shade of Smashbox Always On Metallic Matte colour could be a scarf. I have chosen these two as they are both light for those cool autumn evenings and the shades would compliment perfectly.

2. Smashbox Always On Metallic Matte in “So Jelly”

This fuscia shade has a blue pearl metallic sheen running through it. This is one of the ranges brighter shades for autumn. I paired this shade with a gold layered choker, currently available in Lovisa.

If gold is not your flavour, silver or rose gold would match perfectly with this shade too. I’d suggest keeping it just metal based and not too many colour stones so that the bright fuscia colour is the ‘main event.’ Another great element in the Always On range is the fact that the actual lipstick is infused with Primer Oil to condition lips. So you look good and get a treatment at the same time!

If chokers, or necklaces in general, are not really your vibe an alternative accessory you could pair with this shade of Metallic Matte colour could be earrings. I have chosen these two pairs to suit different tastes of woman. I love a statement earring as a single accessory but in the same breath something simple is just as effective.

3. Smashbox Always On Metallic Matte in “Punked Rock”

So I realise this is not a shade for everyone but if you are willing to give it a go this grey with a purple tint and silver pearl will definitely set you apart. I paired it with a grey beanie currently available in Zara. The pop of colour on the top complemented this shade of Smashbox Always On Metallic Matte perfectly.

Grey is a colour that goes with many things but as a lipstick I feel like you need to tread lightly. If beanies are not your thing I’d pair this lip colour with a cool denim jacket. These two colours paired together are a sure thing! A denim jacket is also the perfect slip on for Autumn days and nights.

There are a multitude of shades for you to choose from in the new Metallic Matte from Smashbox’s Always On series. But whatever the shade you choose rest assured the quality is fantastic. They last up to eight hours and the liquid matte texture is super comfortable and doesn’t leave your lips feeling dry – this I can attest to!

Using lipstick as a fashion statement has always been a thing for me. It’s an easy way to instantly dress up or down a look and say something bold. I can honestly say that I use my Always On lippys CONSTANTLY! They’re a go-to for me!
